Dassault Systèmes Dymola is a Modelica-based multiphysics system simulation tool. It adds behavior to geometry-centered CATIA models to complete the virtual twin.
Multiphysics simulation that models how systems behave
Dymola is Dassault Systèmes' system simulation tool. Its name comes from Dynamic Modeling Laboratory, and it is based on Modelica, an open standard language for physical modeling.
It places elements from different domains — mechanical, electrical, control, thermal, hydraulic and pneumatic — in one model and shows how they behave together. Splitting tools by domain misses what happens at the boundaries, and those boundaries are often exactly where real problems arise.
If CATIA handles the geometry, Dymola handles how that geometry moves. Only with both does a virtual twin become more than a static 3D model.
Combine mechanical, electrical, control, thermal and fluid power elements in one model to see interactions across domain boundaries.
An open standard language that states physical equations directly, so you can open, inspect and modify any model.
Differential-algebraic equations are simplified symbolically before solving, so even large systems compute in practical time.
Exchange models with other tools through the FMI standard, and carry the same model through to real-time HIL validation.
We model behavior that geometry alone cannot reveal, such as drive units and control logic, and verify it at the design stage.
We connect behavior models to CATIA geometry models to verify design intent and actual behavior against the same reference.
We have built virtual twin-based simulators for wind turbines, power converter stations and more through national R&D projects.
